Helpful. I really enjoyed hiking in surrounding this lake and explore the beauty of nature. The granite dells are breathtaking. Unfortunately those golf baskets installed permanently everywhere, why?What an incredible rock formations! We exercise regularly and it did not seem strenuous to us- we stopped a lot to take pictures. The views were incredible! There is a small entrance fee but it's well worth it! Great hike around the lake with beautiful views. Hike is easy/moderate.
Definitely bring water with you and a hiking stick (helps). The view of the lake can be seen throughout the entire hike and really is a great change from the valley views. It is well marked by white dots. Beautiful state park. The trail took us 2.5 hours. Hiking, biking, and rock climbing.
My new favorite hike in AZ! Great place to visit.I've hiked here twice in the last year. Even if you don't do the 5 mile trail around the lake, walking up to the granite dells outside of the parking lot makes it worth it. Looks like swimming and boats are not permitted but kayaking is.
The granite dells are breathtaking. Entrance fee was $3 and worth every penny.
I'm a beginner but consider myself pretty fit so make sure you have plenty of water with you and just take it one step at a time!
This place is very dog friendly as well with nice restrooms.Really cool lake with a badass hike, me and my wife did the whole hike which is a 5 miler. Date of experience: July 2020. Just look for the white dots and follow the trail. The trail took us 2.5 hours.

Every time I'm blown away by the amazing look of this lake! The trail is marked by white dots that are very easy to follow and actually makes it more interesting for the kids. I would say it is a moderate hike. Those helped out a lot!As we all know Phoenix is HOT so Alley decided to beat the heat and try camping for $15 a night. I would say that the hike was challenging. The rock formations with the lake in the background were absolutely breathtaking! Watson Lake is a must see. It's quite an exercise too. Don't forget your backpack for water & sunscreen!
).It's spring break! I see that there are also camping spots, but honestly, there isn't much to them so it's good if you enjoy camping to some degree, I'm sure. Watson Lake is gorgeous.
The bottom camping area was about 50% full st 6:30 pm and loud.
We take our canoe out there often just to drink in the beautiful scenery.Absolutely love the dells and the beautiful views of this lake! Mind you this isn't for the faint of heart!

My parents cannot walk long distances.You can see the lake but the pretty areas you need to hike or kayak to.
The owners are very friendly and helpful with travel tips etc.
