At times it feels like you're not making much lead way up due to all of the twist/turns and flat paths around the mountain but I assure you, you're going up and you'll both feel and see it when reaching the more narrow paths on the edges of the mountain. There are no restrooms available at the beginning of the hike. The trailhead is well marked. Got there around 8:30 am. I went Friday Morning at 7am and it wasnt very crowded. Have fun! Not many people on the trail & all wearing masks as passing by. It goes up to elevation of 1503 feet.
The location is definitely weird as it was surrounded by residential areas. Parking is easy at the top of Lake, just be sure to stay on the main roads rather than getting into the neighborhoods as those look restricted. Going up clockwise has more shade, but the incline is a bit more intense. There’s very little shade throughout.
About half way going back down the trail, we saw a BIG snake! About 40 minutes outside Los Angeles in Altadena. Omg!
